Transportation Planning
Regional Transportation Alliance
Alliance Basic Concepts (ABCs) of Transportation
Points to Remember
- Transportation planning requires partnership between government, the private sector and the public.
- Good planning will result in transportation improvements that support the economy and protect the Triangle’s quality of life.
- NCDOT is aggressively looking at ways to reduce the time it takes to implement transportation projects.
- Good planning takes time, but the business community can play an important role in maintaining consistency and focus.
Support from the Business Community
- Understand the critical issues that affect transportation in the Triangle (air quality, land use, transportation choice).
- Help set the agenda for these issues and be a strong consistent voice to help elected officials “stay the course.”
- Be there throughout the process—not just when issues become controversial.
- When issues do become controversial, be a positive force for resolving the conflict and keeping the process moving.
