2005 Accomplishments

• Developed a joint resolution with southwestern Wake County mayors requesting the study of tolls to accelerate I-540
• Received approval by NC Turnpike Authority for a feasibility study of the Triangle Parkway extension and I-540
• Toured San Diego and southern Orange County, California, with elected and transportation officials and local media to view potential transportation solutions
• Developed closer partnerships between the region’s transportation planning agencies, elected representatives and the business community by hosting several joint MPO meetings and periodic strategy sessions
• Facilitated freeway sign audit task forces that are leading to signage improvements for US 1 reconstruction and I-540 expansion
• Continued Transportation Academy series to educate the region about new mobility solutions
• Hosted our largest-ever Annual Meeting of business and community leaders to hear Wake County Commissioner Joe Bryan and Congressman David Price discuss mobility issues
• Led and managed the statewide chamber transportation coalition consisting of Alliance Gold Partner Chambers as well as metropolitan chambers from Charlotte, Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem
• Developed recommendations for Legislative Blue Ribbon Urban Mobility Commission that were approved in December 2005
