Fred Burchett
Multimodal Regional Priorities Chair

Fred Burchett is a senior vice president and principal with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., an engineering consulting firm headquartered in the Triangle area with over 50 offices nationwide. He is part of Kimley-Horn’s southeast region management team responsible for its operations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama. A recognized expert on intelligent transportation systems, he has designed numerous advanced systems throughout the country. He is a registered Professional Engineer and Professional Traffic Operations Engineer.

In addition to his work with the Alliance, Fred is on the Board of Directors of, the North Carolina Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, the Southern District of the Institute of Transportation Engineers and the American Council of Engineering Companies of North Carolina. He also is a Board Member of Faith Lutheran School.

A North Carolina native, Fred is a graduate of NC State University (BS, civil engineering) and UNC Greensboro (MBA). He and his wife, Denise, have two daughters.
