Triangle Mobility Action Partnership As political, fiscal, transportation and public opinion realities continue to evolve in the Triangle, the need for a solution-oriented dialogue about regional mobility has never been greater. A key catalyst in helping advance our region’s legislative agenda for mobility, the Triangle Mobility Action Partnership (Tri-MAP) serves as an ongoing forum to help increase understanding and build consensus among elected officials, transportation partners and the regional business community regarding key mobility challenges. By identifying and evaluating potential pitfalls, opportunities and allied issues, individual Tri-MAP participants provide the information, guidance and counsel needed for the region to create sound legislative and outreach strategies concerning transportation policy. Tri-MAP currently includes representation from the following groups, agencies, and organizations: area metropolitan planning organizations for transportation (MPOs); the Triangle Transit Authority (TTA); the RDU Airport Authority; the mayors or representatives from the largest cities in the Triangle; boards of county commissioners in Durham, Orange, and Wake Counties; the NC Metropolitan Coalition; the Triangle-J Council of Governments; Triangle area members of the NC Board of Transportation along with NCDOT staff from both central office and Triangle area divisions; Triangle area members of the NC Turnpike Authority; the NC Railroad Company; members of area legislative delegations and the Triangle's federal delegation. Tri-MAP meetings are typically held every one to three months. Tri-MAP is facilitated by the Regional Transportation Alliance (RTA)—the regional business leadership group that focuses on relieving traffic congestion and enhancing mobility. Business and chamber of commerce members of the Alliance Steering Committee represent the regional business community at Tri-MAP forum meetings. Rick Weddle, Alliance legislative and policy chair, facilitates the meetings. |
