About the Alliance Because traffic problems can take decades to solve, it’s easy for a rapidly growing community to fall behind -- and the Research Triangle area is no exception. If we allow congestion to get out of hand, we will lose our competitive advantage in commuting times, compromising our ability to attract and retain talent and diminishing our overall quality of life. To address this challenge, the Regional Transportation Alliance was established as a separate membership organization in 2001 by the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Greater Durham, Cary, and Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chambers of Commerce. Today, more than 100 leading businesses and 23 chambers of commerce in ten counties in central and eastern North Carolina work in concert with other partners through the Alliance to provide an ongoing, bottom-line focus on transportation issues across the extended Research Triangle region.
