Gap funding update
The Alliance continues to support gap funding for the proposed Triangle Expressway turnpike. With different versions of Senate Bill 1352 passing both houses of the legislature by more than 2/3 majorities, it is clear that the General Assembly recognizes the need to help the NC Turnpike Authority with its projects across North Carolina, including gap funding for the Triangle Expressway and other turnpikes in the state. The only question is how. The Alliance encourages the Governor and the Legislature to call a special session of the legislature this fall to focus on the critical mobility infrastructure needs across North Carolina, including gap funding for the Triangle Expressway and other turnpikes.
RDU goes nonstop to one of the largest airports on Earth
Starting March 29, 2008, American Airlines will fly nonstop from RDU to London Heathrow Airport. American Airlines has offered service to London Gatwick Airport since 1994 and the move to Heathrow provides access to the airport with the most international flights in the world as well as easier travel to downtown London. Heathrow Airport will be almost completely rebuilt and refurbished by 2012, providing an up to date, efficient facility for passengers. You can view the plans by clicking on this link

New flyer tells the importance of business leadership
Quotes from our current and incoming chair on our newest Alliance flyer highlight some of the reasons our Leadership Team members join the Alliance—and the reasons that our members ask other business leaders to join them:
I care about my community and about the quality of life in the Triangle. Alliance membership enables me to help shape transportation policy in the region, and to leave a better mobility future for our children.—Ed Willingham IV, 2007 Alliance chair
The Alliance provides critical representation, a solid business perspective, and timely information to help ensure that our economy-and our members-will continue to be successful.
—Rusine Mitchell-Sinclair, 2008 Alliance chair
