Kathleen “Casey” Steinbacher is currently President and CEO of the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce, a position she began in October 2007. She oversees a staff of 11 with an annual operating budget of $1.6 million and a chamber membership of 1000.  The Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce is highly regarded for its economic development and workforce development initiatives, recently completing a three year economic development initiative that resulted in $3B in new investment and the creation of over 10,000 direct and indirect new jobs.

 Steinbacher is a 22-year veteran of the chamber profession and previously served as president and CEO of the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce in Palm Beach County, Florida before taking her post in Durham. Since 2001, she led the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber to record growth in membership, programming and community prominence. Prior to her position in Northern Palm Beach, she was president and CEO of the Williamsport/Lycoming County Chamber of Commerce in Williamsport, Pa., having taken the position after 10 years in local government.

 Steinbacher has an extensive background in chamber management and economic development and currently serves on a variety of national organizations including the U.S. Chamber’s Committee of 100, and is one of 30 chamber executives nationwide selected to participate in a Ford Foundation Fellowship in the area of Regional Sustainability. This year she is currently serving as Chair of the American Chamber of Commerce Executives Association, a national organization representing Chamber of Commerce Executives across North America and Canada.

 Steinbacher is a graduate from Penn State University with a degree in Urban Planning and achieved her Certified Chamber Executive status in 2000, a designation held by less than 10% of Chamber executives nationwide.

 She is married with three daughters, and two grandsons, and lives in Bahama, North Carolina with her husband Tom.
