64 West
| NCDOT and its local and regional project team partners are examining the future of the US 64 West corridor from Cary and Apex to the Pittsboro Bypass and then points west.
|
The Regional Transportation Alliance recognizes that US 64
West is a critical corridor for both transportation and economic
development for our region and state.
- We understand
that US 64 West also serves our local community in southwestern Wake
County and is critical for mobility; access to merchants, parks, and
schools; and overall quality of life
- Given the continuing
population growth in the Triangle, it is clear that doing nothing is
not an option, and we applaud NCDOT and its study team partners for
their efforts to identify solutions to preserve and enhance mobility
along the US 64 corridor
- The Alliance
encourages NCDOT, the Capital Area MPO, and other partners to continue
to explore multiple options in order to identify a balanced solution
from a community, regional, and statewide perspective.
The Alliance looks forward to continuing to work with NCDOT,
the Capital Area MPO, the Towns of Cary and Apex, the Cary and Apex
Chambers of Commerce, and the
Save64.org community organization to identify solutions that will work
for the community, region, and state, both now and in the future.
To that end, during summer 2009 the RTA
facilitated multiple focus groups in partnership with the Apex and Cary
chambers and provided additional
information about an ongoing parkway construction project in
Carmel, Indiana to help further the conversation about potential options for the US 64 corridor. the conclusion of the community meeting at Green Hope HS on July 16th,
