RDU: Fly Faster
|
In summer 2009, RDU was named the second most efficient
airport in North
America ... for the third
consecutive year!
The Air Transport Research Society
reviews more than 60 medium and large airports in North
America each
year. RDU was named the second-most
efficiently operated airport in 2008 in North America. In addition,
RDU was also named the second-most cost-competitive airport in
2008. Atlanta Hartsfield/Jackson (ATL) International Airport led
in both of those categories again this year.
Please take a moment to send RDU Airport Director John Brantley a note of thanks for the efforts of RDU staff in the ongoing operation of a very efficient and competitive airport! -- Click here, personalize it as appropriate, and send the note

In
early 2006, the Regional Transportation Alliance commenced a
partnership with RDU Airport to enhance the air service offerings
available to regional air travelers. Improving air service was identified
as the number one economic development priority by the Research
Triangle Regional Partnership economic development organization.
Increasing the number of direct flights from RDU is also an Alliance
priority, and we are happy to provide the assistance and expertise of
the region's business leadership organization for transportation to
this effort.
Gaining new service for our region requires
a cooperative sustained effort involving the public and private sectors.
In addition, once we land new service we need to remember that carriers
make decisions on retaining new routes based on business performance.
Our goal is to demonstrate to carriers that Triangle, eastern North
Carolina, and southern Virginia fliers will patronize more convenient
direct routes from RDU to the west coast and to western and central
Europe.
