County leaders highlight prospects for enhancing transit at 2011 RTA breakfast

March 8, 2011 - 10:58pm

At a packed 2011 RTA Transportation Breakfast on March 8, 2011, Durham, Orange, and Wake county leaders provided their perspectives on where our region stands on enhancing transit options for the continued improvement of our region’s economic vitality and quality of life.

Our keynote speakers included:
 - Michael Page, Chair, Durham County Board of Commissioners
 - Bernadette Pelissier, Chair, Orange County Board of Commissioners
 - Tony Gurley, Immediate Past Chair, Wake County Board of Commissioners

The presentations were well-received, the questions were lively, and the focus on exploring the potential for enhancing transit options was clear.  While none of the three speakers committed to a specific date for placing a transit referendum on the ballot, each of them provided clear information about the process to advance the question of improving transit in our market.

The RTA thanks each of the county leaders for presenting at the Breakfast, acknowledges the support of the event sponsors and RTA Leadership Team, and appreciates the many volunteer firms that are part of the RTA FAST (Focused, Accelerated, Simple, and Timely) research team that were recognized at the 2011 event!
