The vision for US 64 continues to advance in our region. Within the past month, a series of recommendations that incorporated resolutions by the RTA and the Cary and Apex chambers have been unanimously supported by both the Cary and Apex town councils. These resolutions included highlighting the new section of the 540 turnpike (opening fall 2012) as a stoplight free alternative and recommendations of multiple aesthetic roundabout interchanges. The resolutions also focused on preserving the feel of a boulevard while enhancing mobility and connectivity. Although funding has not been set aside for corridor, a unified position by local government and area business community should help focus solution opportunities. Currently, the highest priority intersection/future interchange is US 64 aesthetic roundabout interchange at Laura Duncan in Apex.
