Cary Pushes on Transportation Innovation

RTA members and partners,

Cary has announced a pilot program for CASSI, an automated, electric shuttle service within Bond Park, from the Cary Senior Center to the Bond Park Community Center.

The pilot program began earlier this week, and will run until June 2. There is no cost to ride; each shuttle can carry up to eight passengers. The shuttle is governed with a maximum speed of 12 MPH within the park. There is full ADA and wheelchair accessibility for the vehicle, which will also control a temporary traffic signal with the park as part of the pilot.

RTA is excited to see the CASSI program grow as these are necessary steps for expanding transportation innovation and addressing the “last-mile” problem that many travelers face. CASSI or something similar could be the future of micro-mobility for the Triangle, and we applaud Cary, a longtime member of the RTA Leadership Team, for bringing this initiative forward for the community.

To learn more about the pilot, you can also visit NCDOT’s website which also includes some FAQs.

Let’s get moving,
Joe
