Courage, Uncertainty, and Opportunity

With this post we begin our “Thursday Thoughts at 3” weekly blog series by RTA. Each Thursday at 3 pm, RTA lead volunteers and staff will release a new blog, video, or podcast that offers business thoughts and perspectives on transportation. View them all at letsgetmoving.org/th3 and comment via LinkedIn here and/or via our @RTATriangle Twitter feed (#th3rta).

RTA members and partners,

Our theme for calendar year 2019 is courage amidst uncertainty and opportunity. With digitization, artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, electrification and more disrupting the mobility landscape – to say nothing of political and funding upheaval at national and other levels of government – uncertainty reigns in transportation. Fortunately, the regional business community is nimble, aware, and focused, and we are constantly looking for ways to take advantage of opportunities that are or will emerge – or that we can catalyze.

Our 17th annual meeting will be no different. For the first time, we will hold the event after the new year, which allows us time to digest food and thought over the holidays, and then present a late January, forward-looking event that will provide needed insights for our members and partners, enabling them to better achieve their goals for 2019 and beyond.

Speaking of “goals,” we will also incorporate an element of soccer prowess at The State of Mobility 2019 event on January 24th. We promise not to red card you at the door.

I look forward to seeing you at the annual meeting, and I am certain you will like what you experience. Learn more or register for the event here.

Next week, we will offer a perspective on the future of I-40.

Until next Thursday,

Joe
