The City will be hosting two open houses next month about the corridor, on November 3rd and 17th. RTA members and partners are invited t. The gatherings will be held from 5 pm – 7 pm on Monday, November 3rd and Monday, November 17th. See below for locations and additional details. Charlotte area transportation referendum
The Mecklenburg (Charlotte area) Board of County Commissioners has placed a referendum for 1 cent local option sales tax on the ballot for this fall. Voters in Meck. Co. will consider the potential for dedicated local funding of rail (40%), bus (20%), and roads (40%). The legislature provided Mecklenburg County with authorization for this county transportation referendum vote earlier this year.
RTA has previously endorsed our region’s dedicated transit referenda, in Durham (2011), Orange (2012), and Wake (2016) counties. We will monitor the campaign and election in metro Charlotte this fall, and continue to focus on multiple revenue, funding, and project acceleration solutions for our market, for roads, transit, and airport infrastructure. To that point, our next RTA Leadership Team will highlight toll options in North Carolina, while our RTA annual meeting will include the State of Mobility report as well as a focus on plans and solutions for RDU International. Be sure to register for the RTA annual meeting today.
Have a great weekend, everyone.
Let’s get moving,
Joe
