Fast, Frequent Transit Is Here and Expanding
The regional business community has been pushing for the rapid, scaled implementation of BRT — bus rapid transit, or “buses resembling trains” — for many years. One of the most important aspects of BRT will be the high frequency nature of the service, which will ensure that travelers won’t have to wait long for their bus.
Fortunately, we don’t have to wait for BRT construction to receive BRT levels of frequent service.
If we define high-frequency as arrivals every 15 minutes or better during the day on weekdays, then there are more than 30 bus routes and corridors providing high-frequency service. In fact, the metropolitan Triangle region has a daytime high-frequency network of more than 200 route miles across six regional transit agencies serving our market. Learn more in this week’s blog.
Halloween might be scary, but RTA pre-bills aren’t
Your RTA membership year renews annually during the month you joined the organization. However, we also provide a courtesy “pre-bill” invoice each fall to all renewing members, even if your bill cycle occurs during a different time of the year. If your renewal date is not until 2026, you can choose to either pay your bill now or wait until closer to the due date. You can always email Jacob Rigg if you have questions about your renewal date, your membership, the Research Action and Solutions initiative, and/or upgrade and sponsorship options.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of regional business leadership on transportation. Have a great weekend, everyone.
Let’s get moving,
Joe
