An excellent 25th annual retreat to celebrate an outstanding 25th year
This morning around 40 RTA Leadership Team and Bronze members gathered for our 25th annual RTA Leadership Retreat. We met at The Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary for about 2.5 hours for an update on RTA successes, priorities, and our 2027 business plan.
The majority of the agenda time together was devoted for discussion among the regional business community on various focus areas including the airport, freeways, the proposed transit exchange station, as well as elected relationships and membership growth.
Thank you to everyone who participated in today’s retreat. We applaud RTA members at all investment levels for their support of regional business leadership for mobility.
longer gathering time for some extended discussion on critical topics
Congratulations to GoCary for 25 years
Speaking of 25 years, it is RTA’s honor to congratulate RTA Leadership Team member the Town of Cary on their 25th anniversary of the GoCary transit system. Originally called C-Tran, the GoCary system has steadily expanded by routes, service area, and ridership, and is now an increasingly important service for Cary and nearby communities in western Wake County. The service is also free of fares to ride.
Kudos to Cary and all of our region’s transit providers for the increasing mobility and freedom they provide to patrons. You can also view this article about free bus/rail last mile connection passes, such that travel via local bus to any Amtrak station between Charlotte and Raleigh is now free. Transit connections to the Cary and Durham train stations do not require free Amtrak passes, since the GoCary and GoDurham transit systems are currently zero fare.
Register for RTA 25th Annual Meeting
We have now opened registration for our RTA 25th annual meeting, which will be held on Friday, January 29, 2027. If you are an RTA member, you have one or more tickets included with your membership. However, you do need to register, as this event frequently sells out, so please do so when the opportunity permits.
To register for the 25th annual meeting, please connect with my colleagues Jacob Rigg or Alea Morales. They can also answer any questions about the event.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support of regional business leadership on transportation.
Let’s get moving,
Joe Milazzo II, PE
RTA executive director
