RTA 2027 Business Plan — moving forward
As we noted in a recent RTA weekly member briefing, the RTA Steering Committee has unanimously approved our 2026-27 RTA Business Plan. Your regional business leadership group on transportation is moving forward with several elements of plan implementation, including continued advocacy for the US 1 freeway — which remains our top freeway priority — and a heightened focus on other multimodal focus areas.
We are supporting the major investment study of I-40 BRT, including the proposed I-40/RDU Airport exchange station. We also conducted a field visit of a junior freeway in Maryland during last month’s RTA Maryland Leadership Briefing and Tour, in support of our advocacy for a junior freeway solution for US 70 between Durham and Raleigh. We will discuss various elements of the plan during our RTA retreat next month — all RTA Bronze and higher level members will receive an invitation next week — and we will continue to advance those plan elements during the remainder of 2026.
