RTA releases research report on transportation funding

RTI International has devoted more than one year researching the current status and various ways to modernize transportation funding at the state level. This week, RTA releases a new report by RTI International that shines a spotlight on our current primary transportation funding sources at the state level, and potential options to rebalance those in light of inflation and other risk and opportunity factors. Michael Hogan with RTI International, who also serves as RTA policy and research coordinator, is the lead author of the report.

RTA will be reviewing this report in more detail in the coming days, to determine potential next steps for our regional business leadership group on this issue. We invite you to review this research report; please contact me directly at joe@letsgetmoving.org with any questions or comments.

I-40 Regional Partnership – a successful 18th annual meeting

RTA members and partners gathered late last month at RTA Regional Leadership Team member SAS Institute for the 18th annual meeting of the I-40 Regional Partnership. On October 22, RTA members and partners received updates on prior, ongoing, and upcoming mobility and safety initiatives that will keep traffic flowing safely on our region’s “main street”, Interstate 40.

You can download the entire slide deck from the meeting via this link. You can also view a photo or two from last month’s event below.

RTA looks forward to continuing to support our ongoing public-private partnership with NCDOT through this effort. The Department is reviewing several suggestions made by RTA members and partners that may provide more immediate or short-term safety and mobility benefits for travelers along the Interstate. The RTA team and members are also actively working on several short-term research projects to advance potential improvements.
