Toll funding survey for north US 1 freeway remains open for comments; City of Raleigh supports the acceleration of freeway construction using toll revenue.
The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), in partnership with the NC Turnpike Authority, has an ongoing survey requesting input on the potential use of tolls to accelerate the upgrade of US 1 / north Capital Boulevard into a freeway between I-540 and Franklin County. You can access the survey using this link — the deadline for submitting comments via the survey is this Wednesday, May 14.
RTA has endorsed the accelerated transformation of Capital Blvd. to a multimodal freeway from I-540 to the Wake/Franklin Co. line via dedicated toll revenue, potentially with a reduced toll rate during off-peak periods. This week the Raleigh City Council also endorsed the use of tolls to accelerate the freeway. You can view our recent public comments in support of this acceleration here.
