ANNUAL SUMMER EVENT OF THE REGIONAL BUSINESS COMMUNITY ON TRANSPORTATION

HIGHLIGHTS NORTH CAROLINA’S FIRST BRT CORRIDOR, FOCUSES ON ACCELERATING REGIONAL BRT NETWORK

CARY, NC — The Regional Transportation Alliance (RTA) Transportation Brunch 2025:  Moving Towards A FAST Transit Future, will be held this Friday, Aug. 8, from 9 – 11:30 a.m. at the Westin Raleigh-Durham Airport Hotel. The event will provide the results of the FAST transit 2.0 study, which highlights potential transit priority interconnections for our region’s 10 BRT corridors.

The event will also include an update on construction of the Raleigh New Bern Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) – the first BRT in the Carolinas – as well as a roundtable of business and transportation leaders on accelerating an interconnected BRT network.

Attendees will hear from several elected and transportation leaders and a number of private sector leaders. You can find a full list on page 2.

This year’s brunch event also serves as the annual meeting of the I-40 Regional Partnership – a cooperative initiative of the RTA business coalition and NCDOT since 2009 – that provides an ongoing focus on Interstate 40, the Triangle’s “main street”, to enhance its viability for travel and commerce.

“The annual RTA brunch brings more than 300 regional business, elected, and transportation leaders together to stay on top of mobility challenges. At this year’s event we will highlight the urgency of accelerating construction of our BRT network, including links to RTP and RDU Airport.”

– Sarah Gaskill, FUJIFILM Biotechnologies, 2025 RTA Chair

“The regional business community is laser-focused on accelerating BRT – buses resembling trains – which means we need to build roads for transit as soon as possible. Let’s get moving.”

– Joe Milazzo II, PE, RTA Executive Director
