RTA Brunch Makes a FAST Impression
The RTA 2025 Transportation Brunch, was an outstanding culmination of business community and partner advocacy and focus for the region.
RTA and our partners were pleased to receive an update on the New Bern Avenue BRT project in Raleigh and see the findings of the FAST regional transit 2.0 study. The room was full of energy, supporters, and insights, and so was the packed event agenda.
The regional business community has long championed, and we have an increasing imperative to support, the efforts of the City of Raleigh as it begins construction of North Carolina’s first BRT corridor this fall. City of Raleigh Director of Transportation Paul Kallam gave an overview of the project, and Raleigh Mayor Janet Cowell provided remarks during the event panel discussion.
A primary focus of the brunch were the presentations from statewide partner NCDOT and RTA Regional Leadership Team member WSP on the findings of the FAST regional transit 2.0 study. We also learned of the potential opportunity for an I-40 / RDU Airport Exchange Station via an overview and visualizations from WSP and renderings from RTA Leadership Team member HH Architecture.
You can download the agenda, slides, maps, renderings, and more from the event. Please visit either the RTA brunch event page and/or this dedicated blog post.
The time has come to make our regional transit future an accelerated reality, and we believe there are real, meaningful opportunities to advance our freeway-based regional BRT transit network in the metropolitan Triangle. Thank you to all RTA members who attended the event. Look for additional opportunities this fall to advocate for acceleration of the network.
Kudos to GoTriangle and RDU Airport Authority
It has been a great week for two of our RTA Regional Leadership Team members, and thus the region as a whole, as a new downtown Raleigh GoTriangle regional bus station, increased bus frequency for a major GoTriangle route, and expanded parking availability at RDU Airport all went online. Read more in this week’s blog.
Let’s get moving,
Joe
