Every year, J.D. Power and Associates does a passenger satisfaction survey of mega, large, and medium aiports in North America. Since 2019, RDU has been included in the “large” airport category, and for the 5th time in the last 7 years, our hometown international airport has ranked in the top 5.
RDU has always ranked “above average”, and this year RDU had the largest jump of any airport in the survey, from 13 to 5. Of note, the top four airports in the category (John Wayne/Orange County, Ca.; Tampa; Dallas/Love Field; Kansas City) were all in the top 4 last year, so RDU is the only “new” entrant. Indeed, RDU has been in top 5 every year since the pandemic save 2024.
RDU’s past rankings, and links to the press releases for the past seven years, can be found below:
Kudos to our friends at RDU for consistently focusing on a fantastic passenger experience from the moment we arrive on the airport campus until takeoff. With this week’s announcement of our 15th international flight and 20th carrier (i.e., Aer Lingus to Dublin), the opportunity and need is only getting larger and more urgent. We are now beyond four score in terms of destinations — 82 in all — and are steadily moving towards the century mark.
