Member briefing: January 10, 2020

Here is a brief weekly update from the RTA business coalition — the voice of the regional business community on transportation.

RTA annual meeting: it only costs you if you don’t attend
Only a week from today until we will see 300 (or more) of our closest friends at The State of Mobility 2020 event. At our annual meeting on Friday, January 17, RTA members and fellow partners will receive our initial findings and recommendations from our RDU AID task force. In addition, Natalie and I will provide our organization’s annual State of Mobility presentation, which highlights an incredible year of accomplishments by our members and partners for the region. One or more tickets are included with your membership — don’t miss the fellowship, networking, celebration, and solid information. The formal RSVP deadline is today; we will accept them from our members until Monday.

Regional FAST network RFP: pre-submittal call today at 4 pm
In December we released an RFP concerning the advancement of a regional Freeway And Street-based Transit (FAST) network to complement, extend, and link the proposed bus rapid transit corridors, while providing seamless connections to the proposed commuter rail.

Today, January 10, at 4 pm, we will have a pre-submittal conference call, led by funding partners RTA, GoTriangle, and NCDOT. Please email Natalie directly if you would like to participate and we will provide call-in details. In addition, please feel free to email any questions or information requests prior to 4 pm today so that we can ensure we cover them well during the call.

An essential partnership gets a well-deserved recognition
Returning to next week’s annual meeting for a moment — in this week’s Thursday Thoughts at Three blog, we noted that The State of Mobility will include a recognition of Southern Environmental Law Center and NCDOT for coming together on the 540 project. These partners achieved a settlement that will accelerate 540 while preserving and protecting the environment, and we will highlight that agreement next Friday.

Thank you for strengthening the voice of the regional business community on transportation as an RTA member!

Let’s get moving,
Joe
