Member Briefing: August 13, 2021

Here is a brief weekly update from the RTA business coalition – the voice of the regional business community on transportation.

Help secure federal funding for RDU Airport
RTA is working in concert with several of our members including RDU Airport, the Research Triangle Foundation, and the Triangle J Council of Governments on a coordinated campaign to maximize federal funding to replace and relocate RDU’s primary runway. Lobbying for federal funding for the runway project was a key recommendation in the RTA RDU AID Task Force report released last month, addressing the capital infrastructure funding challenge facing RDU. We will be inviting our members to consider writing a letter of support for the federal funding request; we are developing a sample letter template that we will provide to you. Please reply to me directly if you would be willing to consider submitting a letter of support from your company.

Pre-register now for RTA 2022 Tour to Miami
RTA members can pre-register to attend the RTA Winter 2022 Leadership Briefing and Tour to South Florida and Miami, which will be held January 26-28, 2022. Pricing details are still being finalized, but we expect the cost will be less than $2,000. Due to potential space limitations, the initial registration period will be limited to one person per company, and we will have a waitlist for additional interested attendees. Email Natalie to pre-register; current registration policies are here. Sponsorship opportunities are available, and tour sponsors can bypass the waitlist for their second attendee. Thank you to our presenting sponsors GoTriangle and North Carolina Railroad Company, and our first event sponsor WSP. Please let me know if you are interested in sponsoring.

Thank you for your membership in RTA!

Joe Milazzo II, PE
RTA Executive Director
