Member Briefing: February 17

Here is a brief weekly update from the RTA business coalition – the voice of the regional business community on transportation.

“RTA General Membership Meeting:  Support RDU Runway” is just over one week away

As we noted in last week’s member briefing, we will have an in-person RTA General Membership Meeting later this month, on Tuesday, February 28th at RDU Airport. We will gather at 4:30 pm at the airport for fellowship, and then head to the public hearing conference room around 5 pm where some RTA members will be able to offer brief comments of support. Please email RTA membership operations coordinator Jacob Rigg if you can attend the RTA General Membership Meeting.  Please also let Jacob know if you would be willing to deliver either verbal and/or written comments in support of a new, longer primary runway, which would be based on our runway support template letter (click here, see page 2 of 2).

“RTA General Membership Field Visit: Complete 540” is less than one month away

In last week’s briefing we also noted that we will have an in-person RTA General Membership gathering next month, on the morning of Thursday, March 23rd to visit the under construction Complete 540 project in southern Wake County. Please email RTA membership operations coordinator Jacob Rigg if you can attend the 540 field visit . Thank you to RTA Leadership Team member Wake Technical Community College for serving as our host, and thank you to the NC Turnpike Authority and NCDOT for the partnership.

Sponsorships are available for the RTA 2023 Transportation Breakfast

We had a great RTA annual meeting in January, and we are looking forward to our next major event, our 2023 RTA Transportation Breakfast, which will be held on July 21. If you would like to sponsor this year’s event, or if you have any questions about the event including tickets, please contact Jacob Rigg, RTA membership operations coordinator, at jacob@letsgetmoving.org or 919.664.7062. Look for more information about the upcoming breakfast event in next week’s briefing.

PS – This week’s RTA blog post provides a few updates from NCDOT on transit funding and the videos from last month’s NC Transportation Summit.

Thank you for your membership and your support of regional business leadership for mobility.

Let’s get moving,

Joe
RTA Executive Director
