RTA Members Show Business Community Strength at RDU runway hearing

RTA members and partners,

Earlier this week, on Tuesday, February 28th, RTA held its first in-person General Membership Meeting of 2023. Around 20 RTA members and leaders gathered at the RDU maintenance facility for fellowship and a game plan. Then these leading members of the regional business community then crossed the RDU campus to the Authority headquarters to offer public comments — in both verbal and written form — in support of the RDU runway relocation and expansion. RTA members were by the far majority of the attendees during the forum,

By way of background, FAA approved a longer runway back in April 2022, and RTA has been at the forefront of lobbying for federal funding to complete the project, in concert with our partners at the Research Triangle Foundation of North Carolina and the Triangle-J Council of Governments.

Sustainable funding for RDU Airport remains our highest priority as a business coalition. If you have not done so already, or would like to write a second letter, please consider writing a letter to support federal funding for the new runway. A simplified support template is here:  www.letsgetmoving.org/RDUtemplate and we are grateful for your assistance.

Thank you for your membership and partnership.

Let’s get moving,
Joe
