Member Briefing: August 11

The largest economic development project commitment in NC history will be game changing for electrifying mobility
As we think of innovation, electrification, and other ways of getting us around faster and better — for everyone, and our planet — it is hard not to be excited about the ongoing construction and expansion of the Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC) plant in Liberty, just off US 421 (Future I-685, the Carolina Core freeway; see prior RTA blog).

This week’s blog talks about all three economic development announcements at the plant, including the most recent one this summer, and the potential impact on innovating transportation.

Have ideas for new transportation projects? — NCDOT invites you to drop in this coming week.

Our friends at NCDOT have announced drop-in times for citizens to discuss potential future “TIP” transportation project ideas. You can stop by the NCDOT Division 5 office (serving Durham, Wake, and nearby counties) during normal 8:30 am – 5 pm hours of operation any day this coming week, August 14-18. The office is located at 2612 N Duke St, Durham.  You can also take this online survey, and/or call or email a representative from NCDOT serving your county, using the contact information on this page.

Let’s get moving!

Joe Milazzo II, PE
RTA Executive Director
